You are the daily moment I seek
Today you were a child’s joy
Crying happy joy
And another child noticing with wonder
Today you were a sobering walk
Sadness in my ear
asking, “How many dead?”
Today you were picking up people
Picking up their things
Today you spoke up when it was hard to
Today you were in rhythm
In harmony, never boastful
Today you spoke without words
Like rhythmspeak
The syllables need no explicit meaning
Or even quantification.
